The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs is a collection of stories by people following the Simple Living trend. It covers topics like finances, meditation, holidays, eating, housing, gardening, and traveling.

This book definitely has a spritual grounding. While the point of view tends to be Christian it by no means excludes other religions, faiths, or spiritualities. I found the book to be a little repetitive and the insights into Simple Living not too profound. I already subscribed to a lot of the Simple Living principles before reading this book.

If you are really looking for meaning in life, this book might help you ground yourself. If you keep saying, “I don’t have time.” What you are really is, “I choose to spend my time differently.” For instance, if you keep saying you’re going to get around to writing the great American novel but watch your TIVO for 2 hours a night 4 times a week. What you are saying is, “I enjoy watching my TV more than writing”.

Anyway, go forth and live simply. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
